We are seeking an experienced individual who can combine strategic development of the US Operations & IT with a “hands-on” approach to managing day-to-day operational issues. Our client is a UK-based pet supplemental producer with growing activity in the United States.
The ideal candidate is flexible, articulate, and an effective communicator and negotiator. You should have a strong grasp of financial aspects within operations.
· Proven operations and IT responsibility in a business of similar scale
· Experience within a regulated environment
· Demonstratable experience and competence in forecasting and demand planning processes
· Strong numerical skills and financial competencies
Strategy
· Working with the US Commercial Team; Operations Director and CFO to develop and implement the Operations & IT strategy for the US business with emphasis on developing resilience and capability for significant growth
Demand Management:
· Manage the US component of the S&OP process through engagement with the US Commercial teams and the Group Head of S&OP to accommodate changing demand, priorities, new products etc against the forward lead times and minimum economic order volumes re sourcing raw materials, packaging and contract manufacture
· Provide clarity on the stock forward sales cover targets and the forecast cash requirement
· Stress test the model; identify key risks, priorities, and strategies to address them
· Escalate sourcing and production issues to ensure timely amendment to the S&OP plan
Supply Chain:
· Develop “hands-on” relationships with key suppliers
· Manage the process to ensure that there are sufficient raw materials and packaging available at the contract manufacturers in time and with production slots to ensure the S&OP stock production requirement is met on time and at target cost
· Establish KPIs and measures of supply chain capability, resilience, and performance
· Benchmark current raw material, packaging and contract manufacturing costs and systematically challenge the status quo with RFPs and opportunities with new materials or suppliers
· Manage the legal, regulatory & CSR risks within the US supply chain
Warehousing, Transportation & Stock Control
· Manage out-sourced warehousing & Logistics partners to secure optimum service levels & prices
· Ensure adequate physical controls over stock and support periodic counts and audits
· Provide Commercial teams with transparency on stock nearing “Best Before Date” cut-offs and clearance of any stock at issue
Order Fulfilment
· Ensure US customer orders are captured, confirmed, and fulfilled on a timely basis
· Escalate delivery issues to Commercial & Operations management
· Resolve any delivery disputes
Financial
· Manage US manufacturing COGS and cost of US Operations & IT
· Analyse US COGS and other Operations & IT costs and explain variances versus forecasts
· Support UK Finance team in US sales invoicing, supplier payments, tax reporting, etc
· Support Finance with stock quantity reconciliations to nominal and valuation issues
· Support Finance with cash flow forecasts and calculations re FX hedging
Technology & IT
· Manage the US Technology & IT support for the US Commercial Teams & Operations
· Manage the development of the IT platforms e.g. Finance systems, Sales & CRM systems, EDI interfaces with suppliers & customers, Tax reporting, etc
· Support Group Technology projects
