We are looking for a Medical Director to lead a multi doctor practice in a great location in Santa Monica with affluent clientele and offering family atmosphere.The Medical Director will ensure that staff provides medical care to hospital patients and excellent customer care to their owners. The Medical Director will set the tone within the hospital staff and is responsible for ensuring cohesion and motivation within the team.
The Medical Director will need good time management skills so that appointments, medical procedures and administrative tasks can be performed smoothly.The Medical Director will ensure that the team stays up to date with their skill set and encourage CE efforts of OJT skill growth, if required. The Medical Director will monitor the performance and production of the veterinarians and prepare their work schedules. Has the ability to effectively delegate responsibility and make difficult decisions. Establish/maintain medical protocols and ensure their adherence.
The Medical Director will work cooperatively with the Owners, Practice Manager and departmental managers to drive the change when necessary. Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation with staff/clients and has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Will also take part in recruiting DVMs and staff members from time to time.
There will be 6 Veterinarians and RVT Managers reporting to this person. Therefore, has the ability to coach, correct, develop, and motivate support staff.
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university. Valid license in the state of California. Previous experience with managing a multi-doctor veterinary practice of at least 5 doctors and exam room techs.
Has advanced surgical, medical and diagnostic equipment skills (radiology, endoscopy, ultrasound, dentistry)
Has had P&L responsibility in the past and knowledge of Cornerstone ideal.
Base salary (based on experience). Plus production bonus.
